WELCOME to Bergen and Norway!

I take great pride in welcoming the 5th IOHA International Scientific Conference to Bergen.

Commanding the spectacular western edge of the Scandinavian peninsula, Bergen has been a focal point of cultural and commercial activity from medieval to modern times.

Its population of 229.000 proudly invites you to share the bustling maritime atmosphere, the rich architectural heritage and the cultural and academic institutions of their home city.

Olav Kyrre founded Bergen in 1070. The town grew rapidly and was at one time the largest in Scandinavia. In the Middle Ages a hanseatic trading center with maritime links to all parts of the world, now a beautiful city of culture and history surrounded by seven high mountains, and the gateway to the famous fjords of Western Norway.

We do indeed feel honoured by the fact that Bergen is selected host-city for the 5th IOHA International Scientific Conference. We are convinced that the co-operation of the highly skilled local Professional Conference Organizors, the City of Bergen and your Organizing Committee will make this important event successful and rewarding in professional and human terms alike.

We are happy to invite you to the 5th International Scientific Conference in Occupational Hygiene, which will be held in Bergen, Norway from 10 - 14 June , 2002. The conference is arranged by the Norwegian Occupational Hygiene Association together with the International Occupational Hygiene Association.

The conference brings together Occupational Hygienists from different cultures, branches and institutions. We hope that Bergen 2002 will be the melting pot that creates lasting professional contacts and development.

Welcome

Bjørg Eli Hollund, Conference President
