SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR PARTICIPANTS FROM DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.

The 5th International Scientific Conference of the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA) will be arranged in Bergen, Norway, June 10-14, 2002. Due to the trend of internationalisation and globalisation of work and labour, the association of occupational hygienists wants to focus on occupational health and safety challenges in developing countries. This topic was also on the agenda at the previous IOHA Conference in Cairns, Australia. In order to follow up this work, the arrangement committee of the Bergen 2002. Conference is pleased to announce that it has established a scholarship programme for participants from developing countries. The scholarships will 
cover tourist class travelling costs (cheapest fare), the registration fees and 2 week’s accommodation in Norway. Accommodation includes housing and all meals. Maximum scholarship is USD 5000.

Programme for the scholarship candidates

Participation at the IOHA conference including poster presentation of a relevant topic (June 10 -14).
Participation at one or two Professional Development Courses arranged in conjunction with the conference.
A one week’s visit at a relevant occupational health and safety 
department/institution in Norway (June 17 -21). These units will be selected on the basis of the main fields of interest given in the application form.

Applicants for scholarships
The scholarship programme is aimed at candidates from developing countries (as classified by the World Bank). Candidates should primarily be employed in occupational safety and health departments in public or private institutions/companies. 
Abstract for oral or poster presentation at the conference is required. Abstracts must follow the general guidelines given in the conference programme.

Application procedure
Applications should be made on the attached form, and sent to the conference secretary. 
The abstract has to be attached.
Closing date for application and submission of abstract for scholarship candidates is February 1st 2002.
