The PDC will present the work environment of industrial painters in the ship- and oil industry. These workers are highly exposed to various chemical and physical hazards. Their work tasks include roll- and spray painting, fire protection, sand blasting, ultra high-pressure water jetting, metalising.
It will be given an introduction to the corrosion protection methods used in the industry and their resent developments. An overview of the exposure to allergens (isocyanates, epoxies etc), solvents, dusts, and noise will be given. The painters have an unacceptable high risk of developing allergic skin and lung diseases, encephalopathy and hearing damage. Industrial hygiene challenges to prevent work diseases in the industry will be thoroughly discussed. |
